Explanation of Benefits
APL (All Purpose Leave) Time
APL time may be used for vacation, holidays, personal time, or for illness. A percentage of every hour worked (6.92% the first year, 8.85% from two to seven years, 10.77% thereafter) is accrued in the employee's account. Except for holidays, APL hours may not be used for six months. Accrued APL time may be used for holiday pay before the 90-day orientation period of employment has been completed.

A full time employee may accrue 240 hours of APL time.
Health Insurance
Health insurance coverage starts on the first day of employment! Frederick Living pays for a major portion of the coverage. Dependent coverage is the expense of the employee through payroll deduction on a pretax basis.
After the successful completion of a three-month probationary period, full time employee benefits include Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance.
Life Insurance & AD&D (Accidental Death and Dismemberment)
Life and AD&D insurance equal to the annual salary of the employee, is a paid benefit. Additional voluntary life insurance is also offered through payroll deduction.
Short Term Disability Insurance
A paid benefit, Short Term Disability Insurance begins after 30 days of disability and continues for a period of 150 days. This Benefit provides monthly payments of 60% of employee's base wage.
Long Term Disability Insurance
A paid benefit, Long Term Disability Insurance begins after six months of disability. This benefit provides monthly payments of 60% of employee's base wage.
Pension/Retirement Plan
Frederick Living has adopted a revised Retirement/Pension plan, effective January 2000, offering eligible employees a choice of retirement investment options through ARIS Corporation.
After two years of employment, Frederick Living will match employee contributions (through payroll deduction) up to 3% of earnings. After five years, Frederick Living will match employee contributions up to 7.5% of earnings.
Upon hire, an employee may elect to open his/her tax-sheltered Frederick Living pension/retirement account (through payroll deduction) after probationary requirements are met.
E.A.P. (Employee Assistance Program)
Through the Penn Foundation, Frederick Living offers the full time and part time employee and his/her immediate family, help in dealing with personal problems. This benefit provides up to six confidential counseling sessions with trained, professional counselors.
Continuing Education Reimbursement
Frederick Living offers Continuing Education Reimbursement after 90 days of employment for approved courses relating to your area of work. This reimbursement will be 100% of tuition up to $2,000.00, annually.
